QUICK THOUGHT: I Dropped Out Of Life For Two Weeks.

June 1, 2017

The last two weeks I dropped out of life…and it was awesome.

BREAK THE PATTERN.

That is what I came away with after my two weeks abroad. Let me explain.

When you go through your everyday life you create patterns or routines. Everyday you wake up around this time, everyday you make the same type of coffee, everyday you go to the same job, and everyday you have the same bedtime routine, etc.

And sometimes it feels like time is literally slipping through your hands. You start wondering where the time has gone. But then again, time is just a construct built by humans. Perception is everything.

When I was travelling the past two weeks time slowed down. Everyday was a week in my world back home. This is concept that is not new to me; I have felt this in other experiences. But every time I do feel it I feel like I am experiencing it for the first time.

BREAK THE PATTERN.

That’s it. Just break the pattern. It doesn’t need to be a two-week trip; it doesn’t need to be a trip at all. Go somewhere different today, eat somewhere new, and drive a different way back from work.

In todays society we can get caught up in routines, optimization, and efficiency. But by going so deep that way you can also miss out on time. The rawness of life, the time in the moment and not thinking about the next task or objective.

BREAK THE PATTERN.
